Manifesto

"The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it". (Thucydides, Greek Historian, 401 B.C.)

GNB MANIFESTO

Compatriots,

We are 100 disgruntled members of ZDF/ZRP/ZPS/CIO. We are Zimbabweans, just like you. We have suffered too long, tolerated too many broken promises, and lived too many years in fear. Brothers and sisters, it is time to achieve our dream of a free and democratic Zimbabwe. It is time for a New  Chimurenga.

We are the Gundla-Nleya Brigade. Our name derives from the heroic leaders of the Zimbabwe Security Forces who were killed for their adoration of Zimbabwe. Captain Edwin Bundani Nleya was murdered in 1989 for exposing military officials who were operating a wildlife-poaching scheme. Brigadier General Armstrong Gunda was assassinated in 2007 for fighting violence directed at civilians by ZNA officials. These men believed in a free and democratic Zimbabwe, a Zimbabwe we have lost sight of. We must reestablish a nation of honesty, peace, and stability. For ourselves, for our families, and for our friends. We must enact change. We cannot lose hope.

We have stood too long in the shadows watching our superiors take part in the destruction of our country. Each and every comrade who believes in ending corruption can do their part, no matter how small the task may seem. It is our responsibility to stop JOC and their sell-out enforcers from exploiting our services, our people, and our land. We must not fear them. But, most importantly, we must not fear each other. We can only effect change if we unite as one. Our struggle is the struggle for a Free and Democratic Zimbabwe.  Under this inspiration, we, Gunda-Nleya Brigade’s 100 founding members subscribe the following manifesto:

1) We pledge allegiance to the principles of the original liberation movement. We need a legitimate democracy and socio-economic development for everyone. JOC leadership has betrayed and perverted the values of the Chimurenga.  No individual is above the rule of law and we will not allow the law to be manipulated by the powerful any longer.

2) ZANU-PF has brought misery and division to Zimbabwe. MDC have become accomplices since joining the GNU. Our Generals repeatedly use violence against our own people. Gunda-Nleya Brigade does not represent or support any political party or the Security Forces.

3) Gunda-Nleya Brigade rejects any form of intimidation or violence against Zimbabwe's citizens from foreign enemies or domestic traitors. We are under oath to protect Zimbabweans and will continue to do so.

4) We will expose and sabotage any plans from Security Forces officials to perpetrate acts of violence against our Zimbabwean brothers and sisters for partisan gains. We will stand up to paramilitary groups such as Al-Shabaab and Chipangano and not allow them to terrorise our people. We will protect our people from these JOC-sponsored mercenaries.

5) We will expose and sabotage any plans to use JOC to protect other obscure interests of corrupt individuals or corporations. We will expose the looting of our natural resources by JOC leaders and other traitors to the nation.

6) The vast majority of Security Forces members are honest brothers and sisters who are loyal to our nation. We demand the professionalization of the Security Forces so promotions will be based on merit. State money should be spent on professional training, new equipment and good salaries for our soldiers, rather than on promoting the cause of one party.

7) We will promote integrity and accountability by exposing incompetent or corrupt individuals within our ranks. We will expose the security chiefs who are committing crimes and ensure that officers at every level refuse to be manipulated by them.

8) Our youth is our future. We exercise positive leadership to the new generations by preaching hope and unity, not hatred and fear. Members of the Security Forces must be trusted and looked upon, not feared and disrespected.

9) We must strive for political, economic and social integration with our brothers and sisters in Africa and the rest of the world. We adopt the United Nations Military Standards of Conduct.

10) We do not promote violence as a means to our goals but we will defend ourselves and the people of Zimbabwe against any illegitimate aggression. We will not be intimidated any more.

Action

GNB ACTIVIST MANUAL

Compatriots,

This manual provides information on our struggle and thetactics that will launch the first phase of the New Chimurenga. It is designed to train you to become a Gunda-Nleya Brigade activist, limiting your exposure to the whore-mongering, pro-JOC sell-outs in the Security Forces. Please read carefully and take action immediately.

·         Formation of a cell

o    Protecting your identity

§  Protecting your identity should be your biggest priority at all times. It should never be compromised. Your involvement in GNB must be confidential to all acquaintances outside of your cell.

o    Enlisting trusted compatriots

§  Our tactics will often require more than one person in order for successful execution. We encourage you to enlist a very close family member of friend whose loyalty is beyond doubt. The enlistment of this person incorporates the creation of a cell (a two person unit of the Brigade). Only under very rare circumstances should a 3rd member be incorporated to the cell. Cell activities can be better managed and kept confidential between two people.

o    Motivation

§  Brigade members should be motivated by one reason: readiness to expose and sabotage any form of corruption and violence in the Security Forces and the enforcement of reform in the Security sector. Doubt breeds fear and fear cannot generate action. If there is any hesitation in an enlistment’s motivation for involvement, reject him.

·         Activation of the cell

o    A cell is activated after an attack is completed. Conversations regarding Brigade tactics and missions must be confidential. Under no circumstances should anything be mentioned in a public space or in front of a non-member, regardless of your relationship. It is not permitted to inform family members of the existence of your cell, your membership in the Gunda-Nleya Brigade, or any discussions pertaining to your missions. Brigade activities must be handled with extreme professionalism and discretion. You must think on your feet and protect yourself and those around you.

o    Communication devices and methods

§  Communication within a cell should take place in person. In no circumstance should you converse via your personal mobile phone. Recommended communication devices for discussing Gunda-Nleya Brigade activities:

·         WhatsApp

·         Facebook

·         Encrypted e-mail

·         Internet usage from a high-traffic internet café

·         Operation of the Cell

o    A cell’s activity must always be inspired and adhere to the Gunda-Nleya Brigade Manifesto. Cells should not be used to target political parties or pursue any other interest not expressed in the Manifesto. We were formed to fight corruption in the Security Forces and prevent the security sector from being used in politics. Most of the individuals in the security forces are honest people and good patriots. We must identify those among us who have corrupted the integrity of the Security Forces.

o    Upon identification of an enemy, our tactics must have be very aggressive. We must always be on the offensive by attacking when least expected and ensuring a measure of surprise. We must seek to exhaust, demoralize, and fracture our enemy. Deployment of a cell should follow the below tactics in the first, preparatory phase:

·         Identification of Tarets

o    We must strive to put a name to a face of the corrupt members of the Security Forces. After identification, we will execute a plot to expose their transgressions. Please report any relevant information that will help us expose and address corruption within the ranks by sending an e-mail to: info@gnbrigade.com with as much detailed information as possible. The inclusion of pictures and videos are extremely helpful.

·         Disclosure, Broadcast and Confrontation

o    Spread the message so that these corrupt individuals live in fear and realize there are more of US than there are of THEM. We must make it known that we are taking our country back. We may not have TV channels or billboards to publish our battle cry, but we have the intellect, courage, and commitment. Examples of our tactics:

·         Graffiti, A cheap, fast, and direct way to convey our message. Please see Appendix I for details on what to paint on walls.

·         Print Propaganda. Print several hundred manifestos and distribute them around your district, especially around military or police barracks. Precautions must be taken as you could be kidnapped and tortured or murdered if discovered while distributing these pamphlets.

·         Virtual. Spread our message using mobile phones, radios, Internet ONLY if you are sure you can do so anonymously.

·         Psychological. We all know where some of these snakes live. Let them feel the threat by applying direct pressure near their homes. Call their families, their offices, keep track of their movements, etc…

·         Sabotage. We can stop Al Shabaab and Chipangano with direct, physical confrontation. Create blockades with burning tires, debilitate their infrastructure by cutting their power cables or telephone lines, raid their premises… However, always remember we are not promoting violence against fellow Zimbabweans.

-         Non lethal ammunition. We will use smoke grenades, paint bombs, fireworks, flairs, and other devices to make our presence felt. We will demoralize our enemy and empower our fellow Zimbabweans, who will know GNB is close to them to protect them.
